Have you dreamed of starting a cutting garden in your backyard?  We will teach you to grow these beautiful blooms like a pro flower farmer.

This series is good for the novice as well as intermediate gardeners, we will cover the basics and dig deep on all things cut flowers.

Join Nikki and the Cross Street Team for the first part of our Grow Your Own Cutting Garden Workshop series! We will guide you through the basics of creating your very own small-scale cutting garden in your backyard.  Part 1 of this series will focus on the basics of seed starting and variety selection. 

We will teach simple and fail-proof seed starting methods. We will teach you the types of late Spring and early Summer cut flower varieties that are best for our New England climate. We will dig deep on how we grow some of our most productive flower crops each season - Sweet Peas, Poppies, Larkspur, Bachelor Buttons, Snapdragons in late winter and early Spring. In Part 2, we will go over our most prolific summer bloomers, such as Zinnia, Celosia, Globe Amaranth, Cosmos, Sunflowers, Marigold, and much more.

We will discuss how we succession plant to keep a continuous supply of fresh cut flowers all season. Each participant will get to sow and take home a tray of early spring cut flower seeds for their own garden. You will also take home one of our Early Summer Cutting Gardening Kits! Be sure to dress comfortably and for the weather. The class takes place outside and in our unheated barn.
