A Sunset Celebration of Education Among the Dahlias
Saturday, September 23rd 5-7PM
We are in the midst of our best Dahlia season since we began farming cut flowers in 2015. We have over 2 acres and approximately 15,000 dahlia plants currently in bloom, half of them in the field bordering Main Street and the other half in our farthest field on Jacobs Lane next to the Science Center. We plant our dahlia tubers in May for their September blooms, and they are truly magnificent this year. Although we have certainly improved our growing techniques over the past 9 growing seasons, it is also the unprecedented rainfall this summer that is delivering such a bounty of blooms.
Beyond selling local cut flowers like dahlias, we love welcoming the community to share the beauty and joy of our flower fields at their peak bloom. There are not a lot of community gathering places in our town of Norwell, and as stewards of the beautiful Jacobs Farm property, we feel blessed to be able to open up the farm, especially when it is for a good cause.
Later this month, on Saturday, Sept 23rd, just as our 15,000 dahlias reach their peak bloom, we are thrilled to host a fundraiser for the Norwell Education Foundation (NEF). It will be a beautiful evening where you can stroll among the dahlias at sunset and cut your own bouquet. You can enjoy a cocktail with friends while supporting the good work of NEF.
Education is the cornerstone of any thriving community, and we feel lucky to live in a town like Norwell that supports and invests in education and its schools. Out of the many good educational organizations, I chose to promote NEF because it is one of the few groups that supports teacher innovation in the classrooms through their grant programs.
NEF's grant programs for teachers are the driving force behind innovative classroom initiatives that inspire, engage, and elevate learning to new heights. NEF is taking an active role in enhancing the educational experience for students by empowering their dedicated educators.
NEF works to make sure education is more than just books and classrooms; it's about nurturing the potential within every student by empowering the teachers. The Norwell Education Foundation's grant programs for teachers are the key to unlocking that potential, and with your support, they can continue to make a difference in the lives of our students and educators. Together, let's empower education and inspire a brighter future for Norwell and the South Shore community.

Nikki, we can’t thank you enough for your support! As a board, we are truly humbled by the work of our outstanding Norwell educators and feel incredibly honored to serve them. As parents, and a volunteer group, we are well aware of all that families and friends of Norwell are asked to contribute. The generosity you have chosen to show us over the years is remarkable and truly touching. It inspires us all to continue to do what we can to bring innovative ideas to life in our schools. We look forward to toasting to academic excellence, empowerment, and a culture of collaboration with the community on the twenty-third!
